Very few people enjoy queuing. Some people will in fact go out of their way to avoid the whole process of queuing, even from time to time avoiding shops altogether which have a large queue, even though they could want something from that one store! When customers are made to queue they can get irritable and frustrated. This is often even more true whenever a person is holding items, waiting to make a payment. Some people see queuing as being an insult, particularly when they are waiting to hand cash over to a business. There are lots of places where individuals have to queue, which range from the post office to the train station, from retail shops to attractions. A sizable percentage of peoples lives is spent waiting in queues. There are numerous factors that may influence the stress levels of people stood in queues. Whenever a person has young kids in tow, this can worsen the frustration felt. The reason being young kids lose interest very quickly and become restless especially when they are kept waiting. This frustration can transfer to other people within the queue. This frustration and anger building up in people whilst they stand in a queue can frequently be vented towards staff, simply trying to do a sufficient job and serve customers, all this creates a negative atmosphere. Consequently, if customers have a bad waiting experience, they could tell others not to shop in a particular store, maybe even causing the retailer to lose profit and custom! Whether waiting at a post office or in a retail store, there are ways to control a queue and calm the waiting customers in order to avoid unnecessary stress and irritation for the benefit of the customer as well as the retailer.
